You know when you’re driving down the highway and suddenly your brain goes off on a tangent and all of the sudden you’re planning a styled shoot whether you want to or not? Yeah, that’s how this happened.

I’m not a huge fan of styled shoots… I know, I know…but I think it’s because every where you look everyone is doing the blush, burlap, bright colors, traditional wedding styled shoot. There’s nothing wrong with that! It’s beautiful, sometimes ethereal, and can be quite captivating – unless you’re not traditional. Anyone can get inspiration and ideas from traditional shoots, but sometimes it’s nice to push the boundaries. Insert Alice in Wonderland a la Tim Burton-esque, combining traditional with spunk, fun, and a little different.

The idea was to think outside the box yet be realistic, modern, fun, literal, and do things a little backwards yet normal. The majority of decor was DIY, to include Alice’s handband – made by her, the bouquets and boutonnieres. With Alice in a blue dress, why not have all the bridemaids in bridal gowns and the flower girl in a blue flower dress? And for the best man, a baseball uniform seemed appropriate. If you’re curiouser and curiouser, continue on….

A huge thank you and shout out to all the fantabulous wedding professionals who excitedly jumped on board my whacky train and helped it come to life. Y’all are amazing!!
